Italian cuisine is certainly loved across the world, and is particularly popular in London with pizza being the second most favourite dish up and down the country. The love for Italian food abroad started due to the mass emigration of Italian people, predominantly to the USA during the 19th and 20th Century. Italy as a country was experiencing extreme poverty and receiving the full wrath of the First World War, particularly in the south of the country. Neapolitan immigrants brought with them the recipe for pizza, which is now internationally loved by many across the world.

However, the more basic Italian food that we know now only really became popular and available in the United Kingdom during the late 1980’s. The Mediterranean Food revolution boomed during this period, bringing with it a huge export of olives, oil, pasta and canned tomatoes to Britain which allowed us Brits to star cooking it in our home an exploring the beautiful tastes of Italy.
